Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 3, 2026

Extension data stays local Your notes and captures stay in your browser.
No account required No sign-up or tracking is required.
You control your data Export or delete anytime from Settings.

These points describe Snipaze’s free features. If you choose to sign in and upgrade to Snipaze Pro, additional data handling applies — see “Snipaze Pro data handling” below.

Overview

Snipaze is designed as a local research companion. The extension stores your notes, categories, screenshots, OCR text, copied text, settings, and UI state locally in your browser using IndexedDB. This extension data is not transmitted to any external server.

What data is stored locally

  • Note content (text and images)
  • Screenshots and OCR results
  • Copied text you choose to insert
  • Source URLs and page titles
  • Timestamps and creation dates
  • Category names and assignments
  • Pinned status and filters
  • Theme, sidebar state, and other UI preferences

All of the above is stored only on your device using the browser’s IndexedDB API.

Data sharing

Snipaze does not sell or share your extension data. The extension itself does not include analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or any form of remote logging.

If you voluntarily submit the contact form on the Support page, your name, email address, message, and selected feedback type are sent to Formspree so we can receive and respond to your request. You may contact us directly by email instead of using the form.

If you choose to upgrade to Snipaze Pro, the Pricing page loads Razorpay’s checkout script to process payment, and Google’s sign-in system to verify your account — these only load if you visit that page and only run when you choose to pay or sign in.

Permissions

Snipaze requests only the permissions necessary to function:

  • activeTab — to capture content from the current tab when you explicitly trigger a capture
  • contextMenus — to add a right-click menu option for capturing selected content
  • storage — to persist notes and settings locally
  • scripting — to inject the sidebar and capture logic into the active tab
  • offscreen — to run OCR text extraction in the background
  • tabs — to open the Full View reader and other extension pages
  • unlimitedStorage — so large screenshots and note libraries don’t hit the browser’s default storage limit
  • host access to all sites — so capture, OCR, and the sidebar work on any webpage you choose to use them on
  • identity (Pro only) — to let you sign in with your Google account; this permission is only ever used when you click “Connect Google”

Snipaze Pro data handling

Snipaze Pro is optional and requires signing in with a Google account. If you use Snipaze Pro, the following additional data handling applies — none of it applies if you only use the free features.

  • Google Sign-In — we receive your Google account email address, used to identify your Pro subscription. We never see or store your Google password.
  • Google Drive access — Pro’s multi-device sync uses Google’s restricted drive.file permission, which only lets Snipaze see and manage files that Snipaze itself created in your Drive — it cannot see, list, or access any other file in your Google Drive.
  • Subscription status — your email address, chosen plan, and subscription status are stored on our backend (Supabase) so the extension can check whether your account is active. This does not include your note content.
  • Payment data — payments are processed entirely by Razorpay. Snipaze never receives or stores your card, UPI, or bank details — only confirmation that a payment succeeded or failed.

User control

You have full control over your data at all times:

  • Export a full backup from Settings → Export All Data
  • Clear all extension data from Settings → Clear All Data
  • Import Backup — coming in a future update

Clearing browser storage or uninstalling the extension also removes all locally stored data.

Children

Snipaze is a general-purpose browser tool. It does not knowingly collect data from or target users under the age of 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy is updated, the effective date above will change. Significant changes will be noted in the Changelog.
